Spring Arrivals

Image
Once they'd moved inside the house, Royce and Kylie really began feeling settled, even though they still slept on a dirt floor! Royce would rise with the sun and the birdsong and sneak out so he could get to the fishing pond for that good, early-morning fishing time. Kylie would get up a short while later. She spent a lot of time creating recipes with the foods she foraged. Royce was always ready for her tasty treats when he got home from the pond. And as the days went on, and selling the fish at the market brought in more and more money, the front yard was starting to get some attention. After fishing and marketing was done for the day, the pair would head out to the old garden area to pull weeds to clear some area for their first garden plots. They were able to purchase some seeds and fertilizer at the Finchwick market stalls. Soon, they had a decent little plot of plants filling up their icebox! One day, after Kylie had spent most of the day at the community gardens, learning fr...

Outdoor Living

Image
The first few weeks saw Royce and Kylie settle into a routine - of sorts. "Breakfast in bed", as Royce jokingly called it, followed by tidying up camp and Kylie brainstorming to-do's in her ever-present notebook. They took a trip into the small village of Finchwick that first week to purchase fishing rods. Royce couldn't wait to try them out, so after having lunch at the pub, they went to the falls to give it a go. They each managed to catch a trout, which meant supper that night was fresh-caught fish! Kylie reveled in this new, outdoor life. She would walk the property and the land around it, making friends with local wildlife... ... and finding plants (and tips from the local gardeners!) at the community garden just down the hill from their place. Nights were warm, so sleeping outdoors under moonbeams was magical. But Royce new they'd soon need to get that roof fixed so they could move indoors. Henford-on-Bagley never really got full-on winter, due to it's...

Introduction: The First Day

Image
Royce and Kylie arrived at their new "home" midday on Monday. This was the first time they could see the extent of decay first-hand. The sun shone beautifully for five minutes, illuminating the gaping hole in the house roof, the weeds and broken fences everywhere, and the ruins of an old family chapel in the back yard. Then everything clouded over. They unlocked the front door, yanked the creaky thing open, and took a couple of tentative steps into the main room. "Well." Kylie breathed slowly. "Well. This is certainly... something." "Hey, there's a fireplace!" Royce tried to sound positive. But his heart was pounding. Did they make a mistake? Where was the second floor??? He knew it would be bad, but he'd been hoping there'd at least be a sturdy interior. Venturing further inside would have been foolish, so they went back out to the fresh country air. Nearby, a flock of birds landed and twittered happily in an old tree. Kylie's fa...

The Renfield Dynasty: Backstory

Image
Royce and Kylie Renfield were high school sweet hearts, both with pasts they wanted to escape and futures they wanted to build. Kylie grew up in the foster system, her parents having died when she was young. She became quite independent and resourceful, but always wanted a family of her own to fill in the lonely gaps she felt in life. Royce was someone she could share everything with - a safe place in the midst of unsure footing. They could laugh together, even at the toughest of times, and spent hours dreaming of what a "better life" might look like. It was a no-brainer to accept when he proposed. Royce’s parents were not exactly stellar people. An only child, he had been referred to by them as their “mistake”. Neither of them invested much in his life. His parents struggled to make ends meet and their marriage work, only paying him enough attention to allow him to survive. A high school teacher changed everything in Royce’s life, investing time and energy in getting to kno...
Maybe beginning again? Wanting a quick and easy spot to post stories of my Forever World save, I've come back to Blogger after many years. I've been simming since 2004, when TS2 came out. After all these years, I wanted to fall in love with the game again. I happened upon a YouTube video with a friendly gal chatting about her "forever world": how to make one and enjoy the sims again. It sounded highly intriguing! So I dove in head first. I was waiting to officially start with the Royalty and Legacy EP, so I planned my happy little heart out, bought a Notion template to track my save file, then tweaked the heck outta it and created a tracker that suited my own purposes. Still tweaking that thing! And after all that? Well, I must say that I have not enjoyed this game so much in probably 5 years. Now, Royalty and Legacy has been a big part of that - I have really had fun getting to know the pack and do all the new things. So that helps! LOL But feeling out this whole ide...
