Maybe beginning again?
Wanting a quick and easy spot to post stories of my Forever World save, I've come back to Blogger after many years.
I've been simming since 2004, when TS2 came out. After all these years, I wanted to fall in love with the game again. I happened upon a YouTube video with a friendly gal chatting about her "forever world": how to make one and enjoy the sims again. It sounded highly intriguing!
So I dove in head first. I was waiting to officially start with the Royalty and Legacy EP, so I planned my happy little heart out, bought a Notion template to track my save file, then tweaked the heck outta it and created a tracker that suited my own purposes. Still tweaking that thing!
And after all that?
Well, I must say that I have not enjoyed this game so much in probably 5 years. Now, Royalty and Legacy has been a big part of that - I have really had fun getting to know the pack and do all the new things. So that helps! LOL
But feeling out this whole idea of using one save file to build families in, then maybe work at inter-connecting some of them, that has been the really fun part. I've learned (and re-learned) about some of the bigger mods that I want to use, have plans to recolour my own portraits of sims who pass on in this save, and I'm tracking goals and play sessions to keep myself going and motivated. I'm letting go of some of my perfectionistic ways with this game so that I can experience something different - and it's working!
However, while playing, I take far too many screenshots to not share stories somewhere. Even if only one person reads and enjoys them, then that will make me happy! I make stories as a creative outlet, as part of my whole simming experience. I don't try to arrange the sims' lives to fit my story too much, I come up with a backstory for their situation and then I mostly tell the story of their lives as it happens during game play. I let the game prompt me as to what to write and convey to folks. It's another whole bucket of fun!
My many thanks to Yasmin of Yasmin's Corner (YT) for the inspiration to get back into the game in a way that will keep me interested and invested! And a shout out to the nice folks on her Discord channel who have answered my many questions about forever world saves.
I'm going to start posting the story of my second family in my forever world (FW from now on), Royce and Kylie Renfield. I'm back in Henford-on-Bagley for another wonderful round in that pack and world. But this time, with a dynasty in the making, as well!
